If you haven’t already been by the Coastal Branch Library off of US Hwy. 331 for your FREE Build a Better World kit, please go pick one up. The little bag is filled with activities that are absolutely perfect for a rainy summer day (or an “I’m bored” moment). Kids can make up stories using a story prompt, create bookmarks, there are craft projects like the Seed Starter and the Build a Treasure Trunk and even games like Human Bingo and bendable Wikki Stix.

Trust us, this is exactly what you need to put up on the shelf for those moments when the kids are begging for iPad, TV or video game time.

The library is also hosting a Summer program of events every Tuesday in June:

See live reptiles, scales and enjoy some amphibian-themed stories with “animaledzoocation”.

June 12

“Build a Better Beach”
Learn about plovers, sea turtles, how to make sand sculptures and some fun beach-themed crafts and games.

June 19

“Build a Better Car”
It’s derby racing time! Learn how to build a derby car and race it. Walton County Sheriff’s office deputies will be officiating. There will also be finger painting and artist Mark Douglass will be drawing caricatures.

June 26
10 am
“Build a Better World”
It’s the culmination of the month’s events. Enjoy a bubble show!
